Random Encounters is back for more with episode 44, keeping your eardrums warm even as the season grows colder by the day.

We open up the curtain with SOMA, a creepy little survival-horror/walking simulator. Made by the same team behind the Amnesia series, SOMA is just the kind of terrifying adventure to scream your way through as you struggle with our own dark reality.

Next up is Hexcells, a nice little palette cleanser of a puzzler with a clear granddaddy in the form of the inimitable Windows 95 staple, Minesweeper. It’s a great little game and it isn’t hard to see why there have been three successive sequels to this nifty, simplistic little gem.

Finally, it’s the end of our three-part retrospective concerning the Final Fantasy series, as we talk about the ups and downs (but mostly downs) of the latest era of Final Fantasy. How much damage has the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy and Square-Enix’s deadset focus on MMOs done to it’s one time flagship series, and can Final Fantasy XV finally pull this series out of it’s self-dug hole? Only time will tell!

Final Fantasy X Laughing Scene (Cringe) – Arcade Cloud
